I’ve already started to plan my holiday baking. Each year I have go-to recipes (hello shortbread and ginger cookies) that I make, plus, I like to try a few new ones along the way usually. With company coming, places to visit and cookie exchanges looming, it’s nice to have a selection of recipes to draw from.
Kraft Canada recently launched their chocolate cream cheese. It’s been a hit with my kids (while my son doesn’t normally enjoy cream cheese, he has declared this a winner, because, chocolate) and I was anxious to get baking with it.
There are a lot of fantastic sounding cheesecakes on the Kraft Canada website, but I wanted to focus on making pops or balls. In the end, I opted for balls because I made the recipe smaller and wanted a quick, bite-sized treat.
I used this cheesecake pop recipe as a guide, and altered the cheesecake recipe found right in the chocolate cheesecake package to make mine.
You can top them with caramel drizzle, nuts, or crushed candy canes for something different. They freeze very well too!
Enjoy!
Festive Chocolate Cheesecake Balls
1 package Philadelphia Chocolate Brick
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 package Bakers White Chocolate, melted
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips, melted
toppings
Directions:
With a mixer, combine the cream cheese, egg and sugar until well blended.
Butter a pie plate and add cream cheese mixture.
Bake at 325 for about 30-40 minutes, until the centre is set.
Let cool.
Once the mixture is cool, use a teaspoon to scoop out a small amount to roll into small balls.
Place the balls in a parchment lined tray or container. Cover and freeze several hours.
Melt the chocolates in separate bowls (or use double boiler). Pull the balls from the freezer and dip them in chocolate. Immediately add the topping (because the balls are frozen, the chocolate will harden very quickly)
Place on parchment paper to full harden.
Freeze until ready to eat!
Disclosure: This post is part of my contribution as a Kraft Canada What’s Cooking Contributor and I was compensated for the post. However, the opinions are my own. Additional disclosure, cheesecake isn’t always my favourite dessert, but cheesecake in bite sized form is a winner!
I haven’t tried Kraft’s chocolate cream cheese as yet but if your son, who is not a cream cheese fan enjoys it then I’m sure it’s very good.
These little cheesecake balls are a very cute and festive treat for the holidays.
