After being a parent for 8 years, it’s time. We are bringing the kids to Disney World this month!
This is a secret we have been keeping since May and finally told them about it on Christmas morning. Their reaction (which we recorded) was pretty funny. There was disbelief, confusion (about when we were leaving), excitement and more. It was a wonderful surprise to finally share with them.
They have decided not to watch videos or find out about the rides and attractions. They’ve said they want to be surprised. Oh, these children have no idea what they are in for. If you ask them what they’ll do there, they answer ‘meet Anna and Elsa’ or ‘go to the Lego place’. They. Just. Don’t. Know.
We have a little Mickey Mouse head on the family calendar that gets moved each day as a countdown (and because my daughter kept asking ‘how many more sleeps’). It’s not far off!
My parents are coming with us, we are staying on site and while this is my third time going (I went with my family twice as a kid), Andy has never been. We are anticipating a week of kid-focused travel fun. We haven’t done theme parks with the kids before so I can’t even imagine how they will react.
I’ve Fast Passed a meeting with Anna and Elsa, and the stunt shows, and a few rides that sound like something we’ll enjoy, although we haven’t planned too many specifics yet. We are counting down the days now, especially since the secret is finally in the open.
We have the meal plan, so hit me up with any must-eat food tips (um, can you tell what kind of traveller I am?).
Disney World, here we come!
make sure you check out the boardwalk hotel’s bakery and the entertainment they do on the board walk some evenings.
did you say bakery? Yes please! Thanks for the tip!
adding this to the list!
That’s awesome!! Have a great time – there’s really no way not to :).
thank you!
How exciting for all of you. Our grand-girls came to visit us in FL last year and we took them to Disney World. It was a fabulous day for all of us but unfortunately, we only had the day and we couldn’t take all of it in but what we did see and do we totally enjoyed. We took the boat ride into the park and the monorail ride out.
Have a safe trip, have a ton of fun and pack lots of nutritious snacks for the kids. There are lots of places to eat while in the park but be prepared for long line-ups. We had lunch in one restaurant with an animatronic piano playing character that the kids really enjoyed. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, in Tomorrowland. It has a varied menu in which everyone should be able to find something they’d like to eat. If you want to enjoy a quiet meal without music or entertainment however, Cosmic Ray’s is not the place 🙂
we are so excited!
