Have a kid that goes to camp, daycare or sees other kids this summer? Just because school is out, doesn’t mean lice disappears.
I know, I know, this topic makes us all squeamy, but I’m so happy that Lice Services Canada is around in the Ottawa area to give us great info about a topic that none of us wants to talk about. When I originally chatted with Anne, owner of Lice Services Canada, for my last blog post about the topic, she mentioned that when school ends, her job certainly doesn’t. That in the summer, with camps and daycare and other gatherings, lice is still an issue.
So what can we do about it?
Lice Services Canada offer lice checks in the summer, especially before your kiddo heads off to camp. If your child comes back from camp and you discover lice, they can help too. You can also take a picture if you suspect lice and they will offer a free diagnosis via email. Watch information about how to prevent lice on their website.
How to plan for the school year now
In addition to the summer support being offered, now is a great time to start planning for the school year. You can not only have Lice Services Canada provide you with the education your school may need to help deal with an outbreak, but they have a fundraising component too. There is a flyer that can be handed out to parents, and a portion of sales will be returned to the school.
This summer, lice may take us by surprise, but we can be ready. Thanks Lice Services Canada for the helpful information and support!
