Let’s be honest. When our kids go trick or treating, and come home with a pumpkin full of goodies (or ‘loot’), we are excited too.
We host Halloween with my siblings typically, so it ends up being a bunch of adults reminiscing about our favourite candy growing up, what we like, how we can’t believe they still have those taffy kisses things and we make trades.
Ohhh, spot that Rolo? I’m grabbing it while my brother scores something else. I’m sure by now my kids are wondering why their parents, aunts and uncles are rummaging through their treats. But we can’t help ourselves.
I love Rockets, and it’s a bonus if I score SweeTarts. I always want the chocolate, and try to keep the simple ones for the kids. I do not like Candy corn (although, does anyone?) and hard candy is like something from the bottom of my purse (although, my children are big fans of suckers).
Chips have a hierarchy – Doritos or a flavoured kind are most popular, the regular ones are left for the kids.
And if there is a full sized chocolate bar, it’s a fight.
On Halloween night, we are happy to spend time as a family, see the cute kids in costumes and spend some quality time together with aunts, uncles and grandparents. It’s an excuse to get together.
And score some candy, without dressing up.
Because, the house takes 30% (at least). Didn’t you know?
How about you? What favourites are you looking for on Halloween night?
