I’m really excited about a new Bit of Momsense advertiser. Lise Larocque and David Milliken make up Steel Moon: a local folk/rock duo who are just about to launch their debut (self titled) album.
Take a listen at Steel Moon’s sound. It sounds really great!
One of the members of Steel Moon is Lise Larocque and in a twist of Twitter fate, Lise and I reconnected recently after many years. Once upon a time we worked together! This chance encounter was a welcome surprise but I was especially thrilled to hear about the passion she has found in music which she has turned into a new career.
When this busy mom of two isn’t writing and singing music, she is running her own writing and communications business, or running the kids to events.
Lise has some wonderful things to say about taking a chance (on yourself) and showing your kids that anything is possible:
Sometimes we place limitations on ourselves or find excuses as to why we shouldn’t pursue something we love to do. I got tired of hearing my excuses and decided to do something about it.
I was 37 years old when I finally picked up a guitar…I wanted to practice what I preached to my kids about being able to do the things you want in life.

It’s people like Lise that make me feel inspired! I can take a few lessons about lifting limitations I put on myself and pushing into some new ventures.
Looking for a night out with friends or your spouse?
You can celebrate the release of the album at the NAC on January 21. Tickets are $15 and are available at the door or online.
Welcome Steel Moon as a Bit of Momsense advertiser!
