I don’t know what it is about the summer, but it’s the season of the book for me. Maybe it’s because the days are much longer, and I can take a book to the back yard and read into the night. Maybe it’s because in the winter when it’s dark at 4:30 it’s impossible for me to stay awake. Whatever the case, the summer is when I really read.
It’s not unusual when I start a book that I become engrossed in it. Late, sleepless nights spent with a child sleeping on my should while I have a dim light on a book in my hands over my head. I don’t like to read sad books or really ‘deep’ books. I like adventure, mystery, fantasy that grips me into the story.
The picture above are my books on the list for the summer. I have been loving The Hunger Games, but now that the Game of Thrones show started back on tv I am remember HOW OBSESSED THESE CHARACTERS MAKE ME. Sorry, I yelled that, but that’s how I feel! I figure – if I read the books, I can cheat and get ahead of the show!
On May 1, the new Sookie Stackhouse book hits the book stores. I will buy it day 1, and it will take me a few days to read (depending on how much sleep I sacrifice). It’s been a really fun series for me, and I’ll be sad to see it end after next year’s thirteenth book.
And yes, I am only reading actual books – no e-readers for me. I just can’t get into them. I know how they are lighter and save space, but there is something about the tactile feeling of an actual book that I can’t give up yet.
Are you a summer reader? Year round? What’s on your summer reading list? Have you read the above books that are on mine? Let’s chat!
