Give a Broadway Experience this Christmas
When it comes to gift giving, during the holidays or for special occasions throughout the year, we all have some people on our list who may be harder to buy for, or maybe we just want to give them a gift that doesn’t come from a store. They might be your parents, close friends, or your spouse.
I think that’s why experience gifts are becoming more popular, for kids and adults. Many of us are trying to live a more minimalist lifestyle in many ways, focusing on how we spend our time rather than the things we surround ourselves with. And we teach our children the same.
I’m excited to share with you one gift idea that is perfectly timed for this year’s holiday gift giving if you live in the Ottawa area – and that’s the gift of the Broadway Across Canada performance of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is coming to Ottawa at the National Arts Centre for a limited run between January 1 and January 6 (there are two matinee performances in there) which makes it the perfect gift to open on Christmas morning (or to give yourself as a New Year celebration).
Here’s a bit about the show from the Broadway Across Canada website:
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
Admittedly, after learning about the show, while the name was familiar, I couldn’t place why at first, but when I asked Andy (who is almost a musical historian in this house) he of course knew – and happily explained to me what I was missing. It’s no wonder this will be a popular show given her story and her music.
Gift gifting made easy with show tickets
Giving show tickets means you will not only be offering a unique experience for someone, but also be inviting them to share in a musical that is receiving rave reviews, and features music that so many people already adore. I love the line ‘she wrote the soundtrack to a generation’.
There are a few ways I think you could give this gift.
Give tickets to your partner so that you both can enjoy a date night (bonus if you make reservations at a nearby restaurant too!)
Or you can make the experience a generational one by gifting it to your parents, aunts or uncles, or others on your list who will have grown up listening to Carole King’s music. Maybe this is the time to buy a ticket for your mom and chip in to go with all of your siblings?
Finally, another fantastic gift might be for yourself and a group of friends to plan an evening together. Dinner, a Broadway performance, and time spent together sounds like a perfect way to kick of a new year.
Interested in gifting tickets to Beautiful: A Carole King Musical? You can find show days and availability on the Broadway Across Canada Website where you can also purchase tickets.
Lastly, if you want to go to the show yourself, you don’t need a reason to give it to you – you already deserve it!
