EDIT: PLEASE CONTACT WHOLE FOODS TO SEE IF THIS IS STILL AVAILABLE
Finally, I had a chance to check out the new Whole Foods Store at Lansdowne. I was really impressed. The selection is very good and I liked the variety of natural and organic products. The main reason we went that day was to check out their weekend all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet that they offer on the weekends.
For $9.99 (coffee is extra), they offer a selection of hot and cold breakfast items and pastries. The bonus: for each adult meal purchased, a child under 10 eats free. That means that the four of us had a buffet breakfast with coffee for $25! Details are on their Facebook page.
It’s set up as a cafeteria style meal. You pay at the cash, get a plate and you go to the breakfast buffet section (if you are familiar with hot/cold food self-serve sections at grocery stores, it’s like that) to select your items. Then return as you need to! There are tables and booths to sit at, again, self serve.
But, what about the food you ask?
We had a selection of fruit, yogurt, granola, muffins, bagels, bacon, sausages, eggs in a variety of ways, beans and more. Of note was the creme brûlée French toast with warm maple syrup and apple-cranberry compote.
In short, the food was delicious. The kids all found something that they love and because it’s a buffet they were able to go back for seconds on their favourites (us too!).
After breakfast we browsed the store. We all agreed that we would do this again. Our son declared this was his new favourite breakfast spot.
I am already looking forward to our next visit.
