It seems all over many blogs I surf there’s a trend – a little commentary about what everyone was doing 15 years ago, 10 years ago etc. It sounded like a good idea, but really, 15 years?! Pretty scary to think about right? Below is a little peak inside my life all these years – just be thankful I’m not posting pictures of some of my hair mistakes that occurred.
15 years ago today, I would have been:
– Looking at only a few months left of Grade 8
– Scared about high school!
10 years ago today, I would have been:
-Getting ready to graduate high school – Valedictorian for Class of ‘99!
-Thinking about Prom and my dress
-Was in a relationship, but not ‘into’ the relationship, you know? (broke up 2 years later, about 3 years too long!)
-Looking for an apartment in Ottawa (having decided to attend the University of Ottawa)
5 years ago today, I would have been:
-In full wedding mode, planning for a May long weekend wedding in Niagara’s wine country.
-Still unpacking probably, moved into new home in October year before.
-Did I mention wedding planning?
-Working for a not-for-profit, and on the board of directors for another.
1 year ago today, I would have been:
-A stay at home mom to a 1.5 year old
-The soon-to-be Vice president of local charity
-Trying to get pregnant, probably checking a pregnancy test even though it wasn’t quite the month (1 month later…)
-Travelling across the province to visit the in-laws after my father-in-law’s recent cancer diagnosis. We lost him in November. We miss him.
This year I am:
-At home with 2 kids and a husband on parental leave
-The soon-to-be President of local charity
-So happy I could burst at times
-So tired, I could fall asleep in my chair at times 😉
Today I:
-Was a nursing machine
-Played with the kids
-Cleaned the bathrooms! Please, hold the applause.
Next year I hope:
-To be making a little money from home
-That my son enjoys school
-That I’m able to give my daughter as many fun and interesting experiences I gave my son when it was just him and I.
-That I will survive my husband being back at work and missing him terribly!
In five years I hope:
-To travel with hubby and the kids
-To be working part-time back in non-profit or for myself
-To be on the board of at least 1 charity
-To own a bigger house
