Well, last night Gingy, our Elf on the Shelf, didn’t move at all.
In the three years I’ve been doing this we haven’t forgotten. Usually if I happen to, Andy remembers, but nope. Last night with droopy eyelids I went to sleep and didn’t stir until 5:30 am when I realized in an instant that my son was up, which meant he had gone hunting for the Elf and found nothing.
I panicked at first, but then a quick cover story saved the day. I told the kids I had stayed up way into the night (when in fact I went to bed around 9:30 pm) and so I must have been up too long for Gingy to want to get into mischief, and with the storm outside, he likely didn’t want to fly all the way back to the North Pole.
It worked. But tonight, he’s going to do something fun to make up for it.
Here’s a few things he’s been up to the past couple of weeks. He’s wrapped our windows, gifted a book to the kids, hung out in the tree and dressed up a snowman and pretended they were bakers.
All you Elfers, have you forgotten before? What fun things have your elves been up to?
