My one Mother’s Day request
I need Mother’s Day weekend to arrive because each year, my only request, is to sleep in. Now that my kids are older, this isn’t quite the same as when they were tiny and waking us up all night. I sleep in on the weekends quite often, but on Mother’s Day, it’s OFFICIALLY a time when I can. Or something. Ha. Either way, I just want a leisurely morning. That’s all I really need. Then, coffee with my favourite people, a visit with my own mom, and not to cook.
Some years, we’ve gone to Ottawa’s Tulip Festival and found a patio to have lunch on. Other years we’ve gone to Wakefield to indulge in the bakery (my family knows me well) and in the past, we’ve even traveled for the weekend.
This year, there is once again plans for baseball (there are team pictures, a skills competition and practice happening this weekend) plus my daughter has a birthday party to attend for a friend she very much likes. In addition to sleeping in, there will be plenty of time spent together, time with a book (I have one that I am so excited to read but haven’t been able to yet because this week has been silly busy), and loads of coffee. Really, what more could I want?
Want to make plans this weekend?
If you are in Ottawa, and want to make some plans to get out and enjoy the nice weather, or maybe your schedule isn’t already full of activities that your children are attending, I’ve rounded up some events and Mother’s Day activities happening this weekend in my latest article for Savvymom.ca.
No matter how you celebrate, I hope you get to sleep in too!
