I’ve written about my love for maple syrup on this blog many times. I don’t hide the fact that I love it. I remember as a kid loving it. We lived in an area that was surrounded by maple syrup bushes and opportunities. A tree on our property in front of the house would drip sap after a spile was put in it. I have fond memories of a giant black cauldron that my grandfather would use to turn sap into a small batch of syrup for the family.
With the maple season upon us I thought I’d share a few ways that we use maple syrup, beyond pancakes.
- on top of oatmeal
- in recipes, like this banana muffin recipe or this maple glazed salmon recipe
- As the star of this creamy maple syrup pie
- on top of sliced bananas
- for dipping buttered bread (I haven’t done this in forever!)
- on top of warm rice
- making maple taffy
Maple syrup is so versatile! It’s a sweetener! A treat! A drink!
