This year, for the first time in many years, our family isn’t leaving for a sunny destination over March Break. Of course, it happens to be one of the worst winters in Ottawa’s history, but still. We made a decision, loved our January trip to Walt Disney World, and will look at March Break beaches next year instead.
I’ve now accepted that we will be in the City this year and that definitely doesn’t mean we won’t have plenty to do. Ottawa is always bustling with activity around March Break. I’ve shared a few suggestions in my latest SavvyMom article, but wanted to give you some ideas if you are making plans for next week too.
Here are 15 things to do with the kids in Ottawa for March Break 2019
- Go to the Nature Museum to see their special ‘survival of the slowest‘ exhibit (coincidentally, that’s probably what we will nickname our family’s March Break experience 😉
- Head to House of Targ for an Arcade Party (I want to play Frogger!)
- Plan a mini getaway at Fairmont Chateau Montebello (read about why we love to go as a family here)
- Book a March Break overnighter at Brookstreet Hotel (there’s a games room and indoor pool!)
- Head outside! If the temperatures are mild we hope to snow shoe and go sledding!
- Visit Parc Omega (and their sugar shack)
- Go to a sugar bush for pancakes (this is where we plan to go!)
- Head to the mall for shopping, snacks and activities (it’s an easy way to spend time together plus, many of the local malls have special events all week)
- Visit the library (there are special activities for the kids, or just go to browse and grab a book!)
- Take the kids to yoga at IKEA with Little Lotus Yoga (it’s free!)
- Play at Gymboree with their drop in play pass for the week
- Craft at Tag Along Toys (every day they’ll feature a new craft/activity!) No registration is required and it’s free!
- Go to Home Depot for a special hands-on workshop (check your local store, they may not be available everywhere!)
- Go for a meal at your family’s favourite restaurant, or try something new!
- Head to the movies (if the kids are old enough, watch Captain Marvel, or enjoy discounted family movies at Landmark Cinemas all week long!)
