This long weekend was quite the taste of summer wasn’t it?
The weather was beautiful and our weekend was spent with a healthy balance of getting things done around the house, plus loads of family time (most of it spent outdoors).
We decided to take the kids to an opening weekend game of the Ottawa Fat Cats. Baseball, as I’ve written about before, is huge in our household. And this year, we’ve added a new dimension with my son playing T-Ball (and can I say he is just loving it!)
The game winner doesn’t matter (it wasn’t the Fat Cats) but the couple of hours we spent watching, talking, relaxing together was amazing.
Prices are very reasonable (12.99 per adult, $8 for seniors and students, $6 for children 6-12 and children under 6 are free as are military members and veterans)
There is a concession stand with the usual ball game food options.
Grape the mascot is always a hit with the kids and there is a picnic area as well. Plus, bonus kid activities like the bouncy castle add up to an afternoon (or evening) of fun!
Your next chance to see the team is this coming weekend! You can buy tickets online or at the gate. Seating is General Admission (which is great – we always seek out the shady spots!)
Meanwhile, Champions for Ottawa Baseball is a group of dedicated people working hard to bring Double A baseball to Ottawa (perhaps the Toronto Blue Jays Double A Team?!!) This is very exciting! You can read more about what they are trying to do on their website.
Ottawa, we are so lucky to have a family-friendly, affordable spot to take our kids – let’s support the team!
